My biggest strength as a collaborator is that I am organized and goal-oriented. I keep things on track. I have creative abilities in both generating ideas and in writing. I add humor at an appropriate level to a work environment. I like to encourage others and offer helpful feedback. I take my responsibilities seriously and can be depended on to complete the task at hand in a timely manner and to the best of my ability.
I admit to several weaknesses in terms of collaborating with others, the first being that I like to take charge. If I do not see work progressing as I believe it should, I often simply want to take it over myself to make sure the work gets done. I can be impatient, and I sometimes forget that not everyone processes information as I do or works at the same rate as I do. I can be blunt, which can be make others feel that I do not respect or value them as I should.
As I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses, I need to apply this knowledge to all my collaborative experiences. I need to use my organizational and creative skills in a manner which assists the whole group. I need to work on my patience so that others can have the time they need to complete work at a rate with which they are comfortable. I also need to watch how I give feedback, so that group members always feel respected and valued.
